Support the fight against Gender Based Violence (GBV)

Working to eliminate violence against women and children through advocacy, support services, and community education.

  • Prevalence: GBV is pervasive globally, affecting millions of women and children each year. In some regions, such as sub-Saharan Africa, rates of GBV can be particularly high due to socio-economic factors, cultural norms, and inequalities.
  • Impact on Health: Victims of GBV often suffer severe physical and mental health consequences, including injuries, trauma, anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Long-term health outcomes can be significantly affected without proper support and intervention.
  • Economic Impacts: GBV contributes to economic instability and poverty among survivors. Many women who experience GBV are forced to leave their jobs or are unable to work due to injuries or trauma, perpetuating cycles of poverty.
  • Legal and Justice Challenges: Survivors of GBV often face barriers to accessing justice, including lack of legal aid, fear of retaliation, and bias within judicial systems. Advocacy efforts are crucial to ensure survivors have access to fair and effective legal recourse.
  • Children and Intergenerational Impact: Children who witness GBV within their homes are at higher risk of experiencing psychological trauma and developmental issues. Breaking cycles of violence is essential to prevent intergenerational transmission of trauma.
